With short form and medium length articles, announcements, product updates and event reports for websites, a common objective is to impart the necessary subject material concisely, with informational narrative, helpful insights and a touch of creative flair to hold the reader's interest. Conversely, blog posts invite more explanatory writing, offering insightful dimensions of the why, how and wherefore of a given subject matter, with a story aspect that feeds the reader's curiosities, nourishes his/her perspectives and hopefully entertains. With eBlasts and most social media writing, a "matchbook message" approach is usually necessary, furnishing readers with a quick-read essence of what needs to be explained, advertised or sold, all in an ultra-limited word count and minimum space to make the desired point. Twitter can in some cases be an exception to these limitations, allowing and/or necessitating a measure of added exposition.
